Mela Japan's Free Trade Agreement in the Zone Confronts China

The United States is discussing with Singapore and other countries the issue of signing a free trade agreement in the Pacific Rim. It is reported that the United States has already inquired about Japan’s intention to join the agreement. It is believed that the purpose of the United States is to absorb East Asian countries such as Japan to join its leading Pacific Rim Free Trade Agreement and thus compete with China in establishing an Asian trade zone.

In the absence of a trade strategy, the competition between the United States and China for dominance is becoming increasingly fierce, and Japan can only respond to it.

During the APEC meeting in Singapore, according to a number of relevant sources, US Trade Representative Ron Kirk held talks with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Naoshima, in Singapore on the 11th. Ron Kirk urged Japan to join in a way that explored the possibility of Japan's joining. Naoshima replied that Japan cannot join immediately.

A senior official of the US Trade Representative Office said: "We will cooperate closely with the establishment of the Pacific Rim strategic economic cooperation relationship with the countries in the Asia-Pacific region." The United States is prepared to establish the above-mentioned relationship as the core and take the lead in establishing the Asian trade zone.

Members of the Pacific Rim Free Trade Agreement are Singapore, Chile, New Zealand and Brunei. President Obama said in a speech in Tokyo on the 14th that the United States will join. Australia, Vietnam, Peru and Malaysia have also expressed their willingness to participate in the negotiations.

In the trade negotiations in the Asian region, China proposed to sign a large-scale free trade agreement between the 10 ASEAN countries + Japan, China and South Korea. By joining the economically large-scale Japan to the Pacific Rim Free Trade Agreement, the United States can compete with China for competing for the establishment of the Asian trade zone. In addition, the United States also intends to contain Japan, which is exploring the establishment of an independent economic zone such as the East Asian Community.
